The influence of contemporary knee design on high flexion: a kinematic comparison with the normal knee.

چکیده
Although Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) surgery enjoys 90% of outcomes with good to excellent results, some patients have difficulty adjusting their gait to accommodate the new articulations inherent in contemporary implant designs. Paradoxical motions inclusive of anterior sliding and lateral pivot are examples of aberrant TKA kinematics. This paper compares the motion of six contemporary TKA designs with recent in vivo kinematic data of the healthy un-operated knee through deep flexion1 by employing a computational kinematic simulator. Three designs employing tibial insert post and femoral cam motion control mechanisms were evaluated, Legacy LPS-Flex Fixed Bearing (Zimmer), Journey (Smith & Nephew), and Vanguard PS (Biomet), as well as three non post and cam designs, the MRK (Finsbury), Duracon and Triathlon (Stryker). All six designs are fixed plateau and currently available for clinical use in the United States.

The Influence of Contemporary Knee Design on High Flexion Iv: a Kinematic Comparison with the Healthy Intact Knee
Although Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) surgery enjoys 90% of outcomes with good to excellent results, some patients are uncomfortable adjusting their gait to accomodate the new articulations inherent in many contemporary implant designs. Paradoxical motions, inclusive of anterior sliding and lateral pivot of the femur relative to the tibia are examples of aberrant TKA kinematics that are opposi...
متن کاملTrunk Kinematic Analysis during Gait in Cerebral Palsy Children with Crouch Gait Pattern
Background: Deficits in upper body movement have received little attention during gait in cerebral palsy (CP) children with crouch gait pattern (CGP).Objective: Purpose of this research is to describe the correlation of trunk movement with the excessive knee flexion and ankle kinematic in CP children with CGP.Methods: Gait analysis data from 57 limbs of diplegic CP children with CGP and 26 limb...
متن کاملComparison of the kinematic pattern of knee joint flexion in healthy and genu Valgum and genu Varum children during jumping
Introduction & Objectives: genu valgum and genu varum are considered as the most common abnormalities of the knee joint in the lower extremity. Identifying of the mentioned abnormalities in the early stages of life can prevent the occurrence of later problems in the physical condition of a person's life. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to compare the kinematic pattern of knee joint ...
متن کاملRelationship between kinematic parameters of the lower limb and maximum ground reaction force during jumping and one-legged landing
Background: Anterior cruciate ligament injury is one of the most common injuries of the knee joint and prevention of this injury is of great importance(1). Considering that ground reaction forces are one of the load factors on the anterior cruciate ligament, Despite much research in this field to prevent ACL injury, the prevalence of this injury is still high(2). For example, previous studies h...
